Recently, I enjoyed coffee and donuts with some of my 60,000 bosses who generously shared their thoughts on a number of state-related issues.
I joined several of my House colleagues and local business leaders at a news conference in Heidelburg at which we expressed our disappointment with Gov. Tom Wolf's veto of more than $3 billion in state education funding and Wolf's determination to impose crushing tax increases on Pennsylvania residents and businesses.
Gov. Tom Wolf vetoed $3.1 billion in education funding. The legislature passed the highest education funding ever, but the governor snapped another pencil -- Wolf's school funding is the lowest in a quarter century. Wolf's veto of funds for our public school districts shifts quite a burden to property tax payers. Educators and students alike suffer unnecessarily. The legislature passed yet another budget on March 16th that gives Wolf an opportunity to fund our schools properly. Keep your fingers crossed -- no more broken pencils!
