Peters Township, PA (September 16, 2016) - Representative John Maher happily shared good news with Washington County today that the county will receive $363,000 in grants awarded by Pennsylvania. The County’s winning proposal for Continuum of Care program funds fo-cused on rapidly rehousing families with children and individuals facing homelessness with transitional rental assistance, utilities and security deposits.

HARRISBURG – Rep. John Maher (R-Allegheny/Washington) announced today that the deadline to apply for the state’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate program and receive a rebate for rent and property taxes paid in 2015 is being extended to Dec. 31. The deadline had been June 30.

John Maher (R-Allegheny), will hold a joint informational meeting to discuss the Wolf Administration’s strategy to reduce pollutants entering the Chesapeake Bay, as required by the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The administration recently announced its strategy in anticipation of the state missing its 2017 reduction targets for nitrogen and sediment.

HARRISBURG – Legislation that would make it a crime to willfully and maliciously kill dogs and cats for human consumption won approval in the state Senate last week and is scheduled to come back to the House for a concurrence vote on Monday. The House gave this legislation its unanimous endorsement earlier in this legislative session.
